How to Upload a Simple Static Website via FTP
To get a website to display online you will need to upload it to our servers using FTP (File Transfer Protocol). To upload your site to your Rsaweb hosting account you need to have your FTP login details and an FTP Client installed and ready to be used.
An FTP Client is software designed to transfer files back-and-forth between two computers over the Internet. It needs to be installed on your computer and can only be used with a live connection to the Internet. With an FTP client file transfers are made by simply dragging and dropping files from one pane to the other. There are many FTP clients you can use to upload files to your hosting account the most common being FileZilla.
To get your FTP details you would log into myrsaweb.co.za and navigate to your hosting page for the domain you wish to upload your website. On that page under the Hosting Management section you will have the option to check the FTP details by clicking the manage cog as per the image below.
On this page you will find the FTP access details similar to the example below.
FTP Server : ftp.hosting.rsaweb.co.za
FTP Username : ftpuser
FTP Password : ftPp@55
Once you have these details and have installed and opened an FTP client such as FileZilla you are ready to begin by adding the access details as per the below.
On clicking Quickconnect you will be logged into your hosting. Using the available file manager view you will be able to upload your files to the public_html/yourdomain.co.za directory. Assuming the website uploaded has no issues your site will now be ready to visit live on the internet.
